How to Tell Your Best Spring Story: Legacy Storytelling Method

We want to encourage you to tell your best Spring story! Whether it's a memory from your childhood or a Spring memory that happened this year, you can share it with us using the Legacy Storytelling method. The Legacy Storytelling Method is a 52-week storytelling project in which participants are asked to write one story each week for 52 weeks.

The Best Things about Spring

What's the best thing about spring? The flowers, the sunshine, and all of that good stuff? I'm sure that sounds nice. But if you're a caregiver or family member, your answer might be something else entirely: this is when memories start to come back!

Springtime is an excellent time for memoirists because it can bring on recollections from our pasts. You know what they say about April showers bringing May flowers—maybe we should think about it in terms of their potential to bring back memories too.

In fact, there are many ways memory loss can be helped by activities like journaling and telling stories. So don't stress out over those pesky forgetful moments during these months; instead, use them as opportunities to share your Spring stories and find your Spring memories!

How to Start Telling Your Spring Story

The time of year for flowers, breezes, and memories. If you're like me, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this season is color – so many colors! But it doesn't stop there: Spring also means fresh starts and new beginnings, which brings back a lot of memories from my own childhood. I'm going to share with you some prompts on how to start telling your spring memories in order to get all those happy thoughts flowing again!

You're probably thinking, “I don't have any memories to share. I haven't done anything but work and take care of my family all winter.” But that's exactly the point: you've been doing something this whole time. You've been living your life in a certain way, and now it's time to start telling your story with color again.

In this post, we'll teach you how to collect some memories! Check out our list below of things that may jog some spring memories:

  • What was the first day of spring-like?
  • What did you do when the snow melted?
  • When did flowers start coming up around town?

These simple questions will help bring your best Spring Memories to life.

Problem-Solving for Telling Your Spring Story

Once you have your story, how do you tell it? Well, that's where Legacy Storytelling comes in! It basically translates all the key details from our favorite Spring memories into a way we can share with those around us. Here are some more prompts about your favorite spring memory. That's another free resource that you can find on the website.

That is a little about our weekly writing prompt and some things you can think about. Take some time to check this is a guideline. You can use any other prompt you'd like. If you have the printed pages or printed journals, feel free to write whatever you'd like in them and cross things out.
