We all have a legacy. Our family’s stories, filled with our own life experiences, are how we create and share that legacy. And yet, many of us find it difficult to retell these memories in a way that is both engaging and interesting for the listener. In this blog post, you will learn how to use the Legacy Storytelling method to build your family’s story!
By reading about how a day at the beach became so much more than just a walk on the sand – can be an experience that changes your life forever – you will understand how these simple memories can be transformed into something meaningful.
A Walk on the Beach
Walking down the beach, it's easy to forget about life. The sounds of crashing waves and gulls in the distance offer a soothing soundtrack to your thoughts. What are you going to do with that old book you found? Who should be on your bucket list?
These are questions worth pondering as you walk barefoot across the wet sand, feeling the cool water seep into your toes and leave them refreshed. You can find more prompts to talk about your perfect day at the beach, here!

Intro To the Weekly Prompt: Favorite Day at the beach
The weekly writing prompt this week is a day at the beach. If you've never been to the beach, just pick another place. You can also daydream and write about
- what would you want a day at the beach to be
- who would you want to share it with?
- what would you want to do?
- where would you go?
These prompts can be used for any timeline or life experience. You can focus on something that has happened to you or something that you want to happen. If you have been to the beach before, insert whatever place you're dreaming about right now and go along with that. If you
- took a big trip somewhere
- were out of country
- stayed in the country
just pick one that either makes you smile.
You could also pick a beach trip or trip that changed something in your life. It can be a small moment that you want to remember because of who you were with.
Remember this is a guideline. You can use any other prompt you'd like. If you have the printed pages or printed journal, feel free to write whatever you'd like in them and cross things out.
If you want to share your own story, we’ve got tools for that! You can find 5 Minute Storytelling here and get started with the weekly prompt of your choice. Have fun and happy storytelling!
